Is SPi Certification recommended in order to teach with Piano Icons?

YES. Through years of experience, we have found that the best results are achieved when the concepts behind each icon are thoroughly understood through careful study and training. Teachers who have not learned through the SPi Method often find it challenging to teach it effectively. Simply looking at the icons does not lead to masterful playing.

It is recommended that teachers first study Dr. Song’s comprehensive pedagogical method to understand the context from which the icons were developed. They should also be able to demonstrate the concepts and techniques through their own playing to successfully communicate them to students. Each icon not only addresses the fundamentals of piano technique but also incorporates scientific research. Students do not transform overnight just by looking at icons, but the method is highly effective—children who never responded well to verbal instructions often show immediate improvement after engaging with icons.
